What is your egg nog schedule? Even though Christmas has passed, I would like some more egg nog and I would love to know if you still have egg nog ice cream! Thanks!

From Farmer Bob: We usually make one batch of eggnog for the season. So, when you see it, you'll need to buy what you want for the season. Our eggnog ice cream is also a seasonal flavor. But there may be some of both left at the country store, call and check! - Farmer Bob.
I would like to add my request for ingredients in your eggnog. You don't have to give out your secret list of spices, but knowing what kind of sweeteners, thickening agents, preservatives, etc. might be in that bottle is very important. I thought that kind of thing was required by the government for consumables?

The best skim milk I've ever tasted, hands down.

Hi, I was wondering if you had ingredient lists for your Egg Nog and Chocolate Milk. I love them both, and would like to take some back home for the holidays (to folks who are pretty detail-oriented when it comes to their ingredients) I was wondering what type of sweeteners, colorings, and flavorings you use in each. Cheers!

My wife wrote you a few weeks ago asking about your eggnog. I was wondering, do you sell your eggnog with a Christmas Logo and dated with the current year? I ask because I collected the bottles from the dairy we went to in California.

Havelock, NC USA - Wednesday, December 06, 2006 at 20:12:01 (EST)
From Farmer Bob: No, we just use our regular glass bottles, but you make a good suggestion. If you have extra bottles from California, bring one by the Country Store location and add it to our collection of bottles we've received! - Farmer Bob.
I was recently home for Thanksgiving and happened to stop by your Hillsborough store for some ice cream. Your Chocolate Orange Ice Cream was was so creamy and delicious. I think you were serving it as a special, but I hope you make a part of your normal selections year round. It was sooo good.

Do you sell gift certificates? I think a family trip for ice cream would be a nice present for someone I know.

From Farmer Bob: Yes, Gift Certificates are available from each of our three stores! Our December Ice Cream Specials will be hard to top (Almond Joy, Cherry Pistachio, Party Peppermint and Chocolate Peppermint)! - Farmer Bob.
We recently moved to North Carolina from California. We had a favorite diary that sold good ole fashioned Egg Nog in glass bottles. We found your web site when looking for a dairy to continue our holiday tradition with but it did not say if you make Egg Nog. We see you make Egg Nog ice cream so we're hopeful that you also make it in liquid form. If not do you know of a dairy that does? Preferable as close to the coast as possible.

Havelock, NC USA - Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 00:10:33 (EST)
From Farmer Bob: We do have eggnog, and it's in our glass bottles! Our eggnog ice cream tastes much the same, but nothing tops a big glass of eggnog fresh from the bottle. What a wonderful tradition you have! Keep it up with our eggnog. - Farmer Bob.
Best skim milk I have ever had.

We have been coming to your dairy/store off and on since it opened and recently switched to your milk and milk products exclusively. You have the best milk I've ever tasted and the icecream... Unbelievable,(& no chemicals or hormones). Great customer service. I have been spreading the word to friends and neighbors, at least to the ones that don't already know about your wonderful dairy. Thank you.

I have heard wonderful comments about your ice cream. With the huge and growing demand for Green Tea, will you be making any Green Ginger Ice Cream? It's a green tea flavour with little chunks of cristalized ginger. The flavour is phenominal! I shall be in Orange County the end of April through the first week in May. Do you ship your ice cream to Western Canada? *just kidding! Thank you!

I saw the web site and my daughters and I were interested in coming up for a visit. We were really interested in the cost's and if 'yall did anyhting special for Halloween? ie: scar crow making, pumkin carving contest and scary rides! I really look forward to seeing the beautiful place and hope you can find time to let me know the results of my questions. Thank you and have a blessed season.

Fayetteville, NC usa - Sunday, September 17, 2006 at 22:48:56 (EDT)
From Farmer Bob: The best thing we have going for us at Halloween is ice cream. Watch our web site for a special sundae or ice cream.... This year at this time ginger snap ice cream is the special.

Depending on the ages of your daughters they might want to climb on the big hay bale outside the store. If the weather is good, bring a picnic lunch. Picnic tables are outside.

In addition, there is a Corn Maze at McKee's Farm in northern Orange County. It is GREAT fun. Look them up on the internet at mckeemaze.com. Fayetteville is quite a distance from here. Perhaps a few more miles will make it a really *memorable* day! - Farmer Bob.

I saw you today on UNC-TV. I plan a visit real soon.

I am a loyal customer and will continue to purchase your milk. I can appreciate your honesty in the recent milk recall, knowing you only want the best for your customers. No one produces better milk than Maple View Farm! I'll be checking after work today to see if you are back on the store shelf.

Let me add to the chorus of support from your loyal customers. You've handled the aflatoxin incident with the same honesty and integrity that you've brought to producing the best quality milk in central North Carolina. My wife and I look forward to your milk production coming back on line, and once it's available, we will buy it without hesitation.
Nate
Chapel Hill, NC USA - Sunday, August 13, 2006 at 15:16:05 (EDT)
From Farmer Bob: Thanks for your comments! The tests on Saturday were negative for aflatoxin! We hope to start up the bottle operation on Monday. Milk will be back between Monday and Thursday depending on location and amount of milk available! - Farmer Bob.
Just wanted to chime in with everyone else and offer you some support. My husband and I are new to the area and we were thrilled to discover your products. We buy as much as we can from your store - milk, eggs, ice cream, et cetera. When we heard about the recall, we thought about how hard this could be on the farm finacially-speaking. And so, since the recall did not affect the ice cream, we made a point of going out & buying a couple tubs of Maple View ice cream. Your loyal customers will still be here when this is all over.

As a loyal customer, I admire the way you have handled this recent setback. I can only imagine the trouble's and worries it has brought you. I got home this morning from work and poured a glass of buttermilk. My wife said whats the date on that buttermilk and I said the 15th. She then said thats ok, then asked do you have enough to last until you get more? I said NO. Almost started crying. I have to have a glass of YOUR buttermilk everyday. I believe your loyal and dedicated customers on and off this site will return as soon as the milk does. Keep up the good work and I will continue to pray for you.

Mebane, NC USA - Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 20:57:14 (EDT)
I commend you on your handling of the aflatoxin incident. I'd like to ask if you would ever consider devoting at least a part of your operation to a grass-based, no-grain dairy. I think there may be a growing demand for that. I know I would greatly prefer it, and don't think I am alone. I know there are challenges with such a system, rotational grazing and intensive grass management, different economic considerations from a grain base, etc. But you have always been foward-looking. Your milk is the best around here, but I have driven to South Carolina for grass-only milk, and I long for a local supplier. Please, think about it? Now is a good time--no aflatoxins on grass! We will remain loyal customers--good luck with all this. Jenny Barwick

Great job on taking care of the recall. I look forward to restocking with fine Maple Farms Skim as soon as it is back on the shelf. Hello Farmer Bob! We are so sorry to hear of your recent loss. It sounds like a tremendous financial upset, but those of us who purchase your products will continue to do so. Your quality and honesty, wholesomeness and community involvement are what keep us coming back for more. The pastor, his wife, and several of the people who attend our church ride our motorcycles out for ice cream every few weeks - we wouldn't miss it for the world! Thanks for all you do. Deb <><

We have thoroughly enjoyed all of your products ever since we moved here in 1999 from VT, where we had a favorite brand of local milk. Much to our delight, we found Maple View. We appreciate your honesty regarding the recent situation and we will not stop us from purchasing Maple View products. In fact, I'll be getting several bottles of milk tomorrow.

I recently heard about the dangers of your dairy products, and I am worried about the state of your ice cream, not only on sale at the store, but the pints, as well. I have bought some pints and have searched them top to bottom, and I could not find an expiration or manufacturing date. I am very concerned about the possible hazards of this ice cream. And, I cannot find any information on the website, or otherwise, to prove that it is not harmful to my health. I wish that I could find something to ensure my safety. All the best.

Pittsboro, NC USA - Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 22:26:55 (EDT)
From Farmer Bob: Thanks for your concern! Please read our press release concerning the recall of milk. No ice cream was affected. Or, read through the article published in Durham Herald-Sun that we've copied to our web site. Thank you again for your input. - Farmer Bob.
Many of you have probably heard about the recent issue with Maple View milk in which the milk was contaminated with a potential harmful chemical. I was especially concerned with the news because as a pregnant woman, and frequent customer at Maple View, I was at a high risk. I talked to the manager of the Carrboro store and she was extremely helpful in answering my questions. I felt much better after speaking with someone. I was reassured with the integrity and quality of all of your products. Thank you so much for informing the public about this. This shows the good character and high moral standards of your family run business.

We just moved from Orange County to Greensboro, and my 3.5 year old son has rejected every brand milk I have tried, saying, "This milk is bad," and handing it back. MVF milk is the only cow's milk he has had, and he is spoiled. Any plans to get your milk in a Greensboro grocery store? We would immediately become loyal customers!

Hi, I bought for the first time your bottle milk and it is really delicious and good for our tummies. But, I really would like to know if the milk you sell is ORGANIC? because it is not stated on the bottle and not even on the top of cap. Also, the whole milk does not state whether is homogenized or not. For me, that is fine, as long as it is pasteurized, but the only curiosity is to know if it is ORGANIC. Thanks for your reply.

Enjoyed the tour. I was raised on a dairy farm in Delaware in the 40's&50's. What a difference in procedure. We milked two at a time with Surge belly hanging milkers. Strained the milk and poured it into cans to be picked up. I got up at 4AM, milked 14 cows, turned them out, cleaned the gutters, swept the barn then went to school. I was 14 years old at the time. Just me and Mom. Long story. Will make an effort to stop by the store the next time we are in your area. Thank you.

Ever since a friend of mine took me out to the ice cream store at Maple View, I have fallen in love with your farm and your products. Thanks for your commitment to quality -- your milk and ice cream are delicious and it's great to know that you are a family business. We just returned from sampling the new Maple View/sunshine lavender farm Chocolate Lavender Ice Cream! It is very lavender-y and yummy!! Thanks for partnering with another Orange County Farm. Our lavender customers will certainly enjoy exploring lavender with their taste buds. Also, our family enjoys MVF dairy products and has since you all started bottling it. Maple View Farm is in the process of switching to new caps that have a tab on them so that it is much easier to open up the bottles. You can find the new caps on some of the bottles but there are some still out there with the old caps. Please be patient and soon they will all be easier to open.

Dear Maple View Farm: I know that you have been working on new caps, but I have to tell you that I now have tendonitis in my elbow from prying off your caps. I'm not kidding. Obvious solution for me is to quit buying your milk. I can't believe you can't solve this problem.
