Comments: Hi, I was wondering what temperature you use to pasteurize your milk. I've been researching and found that most producers will overheat their product for a longer shelf life but it also takes out the healthy organisms. I'm just looking for local farmers to get the best nutrition for myself and my family and would appreciate your input. Thanks and have blessed day.

Comments: We have been experiencing Maple View Farm milk going bad before its use by date for several weeks. We thought our refrigerator was having trouble. However, we purchased a local competitor and found that the problem went away. Our recent Maple View Farm milk purchase on 2/13/12 (we like your use of glass bottles) with a use by date of 2/23/12 was going bad this morning. We purchase our milk from either Harris Teeter or the Company Shop Co-op. Please fix what ever is wrong so we can begin buying your product again soon. We'll try again a a few weeks.

Comments: I've had the same experience with the last two quarts of 2% milk that I bought from the Homestead Market Harris Teeter location. I called and spoke to the manager there this morning (13 Feb) and he seemed surprised. He said he will have the refrigeration techs check the cooler they are using.

Comments: The Homestead Market Harris Teeter must not keep the Maple View milk adequately chilled until it is sold. I bought a quart this week and it is going sour even though it has not reached its sell by date. I often have this happen when I buy Maple View from the Homestead Market Harris Teeter. I do not have this experience when I buy your milk from Weaver Street, Whole Foods, or the Maple View Ice Cream store.
Admin reply: We will look into this.

Comments: I noticed another user of your milk having problems with the milk spoiling before it's expiration date. I have had 2 one half gallons spoil before it's expiration date. This happened about a month or two ago. The milk was skim and it separated into water on top and curds at the bottom I bought this milk at the Kroger store on Hillsborough Rd. in Durham. I have used and loved your milk for years and this is the first time that I have had this happen. What happened to cause this?
Admin reply: When milk get above 40 degrees, it grows bacteria and this can cause the milk to sour. We have not found a problem on our end, but we are still looking. We keep test milk here and it has been lasting 30 to 70 days.

Comments: Hi, I was wondering if you are giving tours around the farm for children so that they could meet animals? My 5 y.o. son is really interested in cows. Is this possible for him to come and watch the cows being milked? It might sound funny but this is his biggest wish so far. Thanks!
Admin reply: Hi! We do tours through Maple View Agricultural Center. The number at the center is 919-942-6122. You can call and ask for Susan. Our tours are by appointment only. We have various classrooms that change seasonaly. Unfortunately, we don't allow visitors in the actual milking parlor. However, we have a dairy classroom at the center and we offer hayrides up to the farm Our website is www.mapleviewagcenter.com We are in the process of updating the information on it. We look forward to speaking with you!
